Borgo la Bagnaia was once a tiny medieval village which has now been converted in to a luxury hotel. The atmosphere of the country estate can still very much be felt. Religious services including intimate marriage ceremonies are held in the estate chapel to this very day. There are a host of secret rooms to “discover” including the marvelous “reading room” and the 12th century “Filetta” complex.
Guests are free to enjoy the extensive grounds, to wander in the gardens and woodland discovering the wild life and the garden architecture which features numerous statues and sitting areas from where to enjoy spectacular views over the Tuscan countryside and the towers of Siena in the distance.
The furnishings in all the rooms and public areas are quite stunning – featuring antique Tuscan and ethnic pieces from the owners private collection – there are no standard hotel room fittings - and each article is truly unique. Textiles and drapes have all been personally designed by the owner
Given that the Borgo La Bagnaia complex was built many centuries ago, guests will not find themselves staying in a room off a long corridor with endless guest accommodations, but rather in beautiful, individually appointed rooms in the various buildings which once made up the Medieval hamlet.
Guests dining in the elegant gourmet restaurant La Voliera, situated in the central square of the estate, choose from a menu featuring a selection of the best loved traditional Tuscan delicacies, prepared using the very finest locally sourced ingredients. On fine days guests can eat “al fresco” on the restaurant terrace.

The name of the estate itself, Bagnaia, recalls the thermal waters for which, since medieval times, this place has been known.
Legend has it that the farm workers used to watch members of the noble class from a distance, as they bathed in the Magical Springs of Santa Caterina. Numerous the popes, cardinals, and princes who immersed themselves in these waters, including the great Lorenzo il Magnifico.
Today, the beneficial properties of the waters have been scientifically proven, and their usefulness in the treatment of vascular, aesthetic, orthopaedic and dermatological problems officially certified.
The Resort’s Buddha Spa has been built in a building converted from ancient stables in to a marvelous light filled wellness center, situated in a secluded part of the country estate. Spacious treatment rooms all have natural light sources. Oriental decorative pieces, and splendid views out on to the Tuscan countryside make the Buddha Spa a truly inspirational environment.
Harmony and equilibrium are the lasting benefits of the Buddha Spa experience. A series of exquisite energy enhancing rituals have been designed to regenerate and promote healthy skin, invigorate the senses and, notably increase energy levels; transmitting a glorious sensation of absolute wellbeing.
